As retired Chief of the Experimental Therapeutics Branch, Intramural Research Program, National Institute of Mental Health, Dr. Pickar is a leader in the scientific underpinnings of new approaches to treat mental illness. Dr. Pickar’s patented invention for treatment of schizophrenia is currently in FDA stage IIb of clinical development. Since retirement from the NIH and the United States Public Health Service, Dr. Pickar has founded three companies related to drug development for CNS disorders.
